Woodton started this game in high spirits after their 3-2 friendly win against Bunwell AFC last week, and soon went ahead when Ethan Mortimer chipped over the goalkeeper. Before half time, Viking equalised as United tried to get used to a new formation which they had not played in before.

The second half begun brightly and Ethan had soon grabbed his second, and then his third after a long ball over the top was seized upon after the opposition goalkeeper’s error saw a situation where it would’ve been more difficult to miss than to score. Adam Connellan then delightfully lofted Woodton’s fourth goal into the far corner with the outside of his right foot, but old habits crept back in as Viking refused to give up and managed to claw their way back into the game by scoring two to bring the deficit to just one goal. United kept fighting though and grew into the new system and Connellan turned in the box after some good play down the right hand side and smashed the ball home in to the top corner from close range to confirm the victory for the home side.
