Woodton United to become Norfolk FA’s first affiliated LGBT Inclusive side

Woodton United FC are delighted to announce that, in conjunction with Norfolk County FA, we will be the first official affiliated LGBT Friendly Football Club in Norfolk. Whilst we understand that all football clubs should be LGBT Friendly without the need to say so, we acknowledge that unfortunately there is still a need to make it clear to LGBT players that they are welcome. We are therefore raising our hands to say that members of the LGBT community are welcome at Woodton United FC in any capacity; be it playing, behind the scenes, or even just supporting. We want members of our club to feel free to be themselves without fear or discrimination. We hope that other clubs will take note of our work and we hope that this will encourage many other clubs to take steps to promote LGBT inclusion in Norfolk Football. As part of this accreditation, we have published a new Equality Statement which is as follows:

“Woodton United offer a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere to all who wish to take part. We are committed to promoting equality and inclusivity within all aspects of our club. Whether you be a player, coach or supporter, you can expect to receive equal treatment regardless of your identity (Ethnic origin, colour, race, nationality, religion or belief, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, disability). We have a zero-tolerance approach to any member of our club being subjected to harm, threats of harm, bullying or harassment, discrimination, or any inappropriate behaviour or language on or off the field irrespective of how it is instigated.”
